Saturday night, after a total of thirteen hours and thirty minutes spent in planes, I finally returned home. My trip to Greece and Italy was wonderful and it allowed me to capture many pictures to use in future photoshop tutorials. The jet lag is a challenging thing to overcome, however, I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. I plan on getting another photoshop tutorial out later this week.
I have been in Greece for five days now. It has been one of the best experiences of my life. Greece has been amazing to me, other than a minor sun burn and sea urchins attacking my friends. I have gotten many pictures while in Greece, and I plan on using them for future tutorials!
This is only one example of the beautiful sights I have seen. It’s called the Corinth Canal.
This week I decided to try editing a picture without following any tutorial and just making different adjustments until it looked visually pleasing. Below I have provided a copy of the original and edited version of my picture. If you would like an in depth explanation of how I accomplished this look let me know in the comments. Enjoy!
This week I decided to edit an image in order to create a splatter or water colour effect. I found it quite difficult to do because I did not have the brushes within Photoshop that I needed in order to make the effect realistic. The tutorial I followed this week only focused on adding a splatter effect to the middle of the picture, however, I wanted the entire image to contain the splatter. I used a tutorial on youtube created by the account Photoshop Tutorials. The way that this tutorial was demonstrated was quite difficult to follow along with and as a result I had to repeat this tutorial many times. Overall I really like the tone that this effect conveys and I will probably attempt to use it in my day to day editing. This is the link to the tutorial I completed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FItQ_eXCt6E
Next week may be challenging for me to get a tutorial completed as I am going to a provincial skills competition for photography on April 5th and April 6th, and I am leaving for a trip on April 11th. I will try my best to get out a tutorial next week, however, I may just share my experience at the photography competition instead.
This week I followed a tutorial that taught me how to use text to cover a portrait. The tutorial taught me many new skills and it helped me to understand the different tools in Photoshop. I learned how to use the blur, displacement map, and the pencil select tools. This tutorial took me an hour to complete, however, I attempted it many different times in order to get the effect I wanted. If you are interested in using this tutorial here is the link to try it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqCmlp7a8LE
This blog is going to feature the endless things that Photoshop can do. Every week I plan on editing my pictures using Photoshop to create different effects. The goal of this project is to demonstrate how my photography and Photoshop skills will improve drastically. I will write a reflection for each piece I complete, and I will leave tips for future reference. Photography and the endless ways of editing has always been a passion of mine, and I am glad that I have the ability to share it with the public.
